Our lifeguard training program provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. As a trained lifeguard you are eligible to work multiple positions depending on your experience level and your desire to be in a leadership position. Leadership positions available to experienced applicants include assistant manager, manager and supervisor.

Beginner Lifeguard Eligibility Requirements

    • All applicants must be at least 15 years of age or be turning 15 years of age by the training completion date.
    • All applicants must be able to provide a form of photo identification such as student ID or state ID, and proof for age verification such as drivers license or birth certificate.
    • You must be a new applicant that has never participated in a lifeguard training course before.
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

Lifeguard Beginner Course

AMERICAN RED CROSS PREREQUISITES:
(All prerequisites are performed on the first day of the course.)

  • Prerequisite 1 – Swim-tread-swim sequence:  Must be completed without stopping to rest.
    • Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed)
  • Prerequisite 2 – Complete the following timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
    • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. (The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed).
    •  Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 – 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
    •  Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface.
    •  Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

AMERICAN RED CROSS TRAINING

  • Applicants who meet the prerequisites will attend the classroom portion of the training program followed by one (1) fifty question multiple choice exams.

    • All new Applicants that are a third-year lifeguard must register for a Review Course to evaluate your skill level
    • All third-year new applicants must bring a copy of their certification to the first class.

GENERAL INFORMATION

PAYMENT DETAILS:

  • All applicants must pay by cash or check before the course begins or pay by Visa, Master Card or Discover Credit Card at the time of registration. If you are paying by check, please make checks payable to Texas Aquatic Enterprises.
  • If you are an applicant and can’t pay the cost up front you may request to take it out of your paycheck with an additional administration fee of $25.  (If you are requesting to take it out of your paycheck, you will need to contact the office to set up,  fill out and sign the  Training Class Repayment Agreement and send it to training@taepools.com prior to the beginning of the course. All Training Class Repayment Agreements must be approved by our HR Director via email.  If you are under the age of 18, please have one of your parents/guardians sign the form as well.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • All cancellations must be in writing one week prior to the first-class date.  All cancellations must be emailed to training@taepools.com.
  • Those applicants who have paid in full prior to the cancellation will be refunded their full amount less a $25 administration fee. Refunds may take up to 2 weeks.

REFUND POLICY:

  • No refunds will be given to an applicant who does not show up to the training class or to an applicant that fails to pass the all portions of the training.
  • Should an applicant fail to pass the training course they will be allowed a second attempt at a future training at no additional cost.

CLASS DETAILS:

  • Applicants must arrive 15 minutes prior to each scheduled class.
  • Applicants are required to attend all class dates and times listed for each specific class.
  • This course includes Lifeguard Training with First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Training.

  • ARC Lifeguard Training Book
  • Pocket Mask

CERTIFICATION(S) PROVIDED BY TEXAS AQUATIC ENTERPRISES:

  • American Red Cross certification cards for Lifeguard Training w/First Aid for (2 years) and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer for (2 years)
  • All students must pass all ARC requirements to receive all certifications required to become a lifeguard.

LUNCHES AND BREAKS:

  • Lunch Breaks: PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ALL STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING A SACKED LUNCH.  LUNCH BREAK IS 45 MINUTES.
  • Breaks: There will be 5 to 15-minute breaks throughout the classes.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • The applicant accepts the terms and conditions of Texas Aquatic Enterprises and that an employment offer will not be accepted until the student is current on all certifications required for the position.  It is understood that the employment offer is subjected to eligibility terms, requirements and conditions and may be changed and or terminated by Texas Aquatic Enterprises on an at will basis.
  • Lifeguard certification classes held by Texas Aquatic Enterprises are for current/future Texas Aquatic Enterprises Lifeguards only. Any participant who is not planning to work for Texas Aquatic Enterprises will be asked to leave class; no refunds will be issued.
